Family therapy in Wyckoff, NJ

Strengthen your family's communication, connection, and ability to navigate challenges together

Every family goes through difficult seasons. Maybe your teenager has become distant or reactive. Maybe a major life change has shifted the dynamic at home. Maybe the same arguments keep coming up and nobody knows how to break the cycle. You go to bed replaying the day in your head, wishing you had handled things differently and promising yourself tomorrow will be different. You love your family deeply, but you’re exhausted from feeling like every conversation turns into an argument and unsure how to get back to the connection you used to have.

These patterns do not mean your family is broken. They mean your family is stuck, and a different approach can get you moving forward again.

When your family needs support

Family therapy at Ola Wellness helps families rebuild communication, strengthen their relationships, and learn how to support each other through the challenges that come with everyday life.

What family therapy can help with

  • Frequent arguments or communication breakdowns between parents and children.

  • Difficulty adjusting to a major life change such as a move, divorce, blending families, or a new sibling.

  • A teen who is struggling emotionally and pulling away from the family.

  • Parenting disagreements that create tension at home.

  • Boundary issues between family members.

  • Rebuilding trust after a conflict or difficult event.

  • Supporting a family member who is going through a mental health challenge.

Our approach

We use structural-family-therapy to look at how your family is organized and how each member's role affects the overall dynamic. We identify the patterns that are creating conflict and work together to shift them. We also draw from cognitive behavioral therapy and solution-focused techniques to give your family concrete tools and communication strategies you can use at home between sessions.

Therapy is collaborative. Every member's perspective matters. Our role is to help you hear each other, understand each other, and find a way forward that works for your family as a whole.

What to expect in family sessions

The first session focuses on understanding what brought your family to therapy and what each person hopes to get out of it. We will ask questions about your family's structure, communication patterns, and current challenges. There is no pressure for anyone to share more than they are comfortable with in the first meeting.

Sessions are typically 45 to 60 minutes and are conducted via secure telehealth video. All family members join from the same location or connect from separate devices, whichever works best for your situation.

Parenting Sessions in Wyckoff, NJ

Guidance and support for parents who want to show up differently for their kids

Parenting is hard. Asking for help is not a weakness.

You love your kids. That is not the question. The question is why things feel so difficult right now. Maybe your teenager has become someone you do not recognize. Maybe you are repeating patterns from your own upbringing that you swore you would never repeat. Maybe you and your co-parent cannot get on the same page, and the tension is spilling over into every interaction at home.

Parenting sessions at Ola Wellness give you a space to step back, get clarity, and build the skills you need to parent with more confidence and less guilt.

What parenting sessions can help with

  • Managing a child or teen who is anxious, withdrawn, or acting out.

  • Co-parenting disagreements and getting on the same page with your partner.

  • Setting boundaries with your kids without feeling guilty.

  • Understanding your child's behavior and what it is really communicating.

  • Breaking generational patterns you do not want to pass down.

  • Navigating your child's school-related stress or social challenges.

  • Managing your own stress and emotions as a parent so they do not drive your reactions.

Our approach

Parenting sessions focus on you as the parent, not on diagnosing your child. We help you understand the dynamics at play in your family, identify what is triggering the most difficult moments, and build strategies you can use at home. We draw from structural-family-therapy, positive psychology, and cognitive behavioral techniques to give you practical tools that fit your specific family situation.

If your child is also in individual therapy (with us or another provider), parenting sessions can complement that work by helping you support your child's progress outside of their sessions.

What to expect in parenting sessions

In the first session, we will talk about what is happening at home, what challenges you are facing, and what you want to feel differently as a parent. These sessions are for you. There is no judgment about what you have or have not tried. The goal is to give you new tools and a fresh perspective.

Sessions are 45 to 60 minutes and conducted via secure telehealth video. Evening and weekend appointments are available.

Your Family Does Not Have to Stay Stuck. You Do Not Have to Figure This Out Alone.

If the tension at home has been building and you are not sure how to turn things around, a free consultation is a good place to start. We will talk about what is going on and whether family therapy is the right fit.
