Therapy Frequently Asked Questions

  • Absolutely. Many of our clients are not in crisis when they start. They are high-functioning people who feel like something is off but cannot quite name it. Maybe it is the overthinking, the burnout, or the feeling that they should be handling things better on their own. You do not need to wait until things fall apart to get support. Therapy is often most effective when you start before it gets to that point. Visit our blog post, “Signs It May Be Time to Start Therapy” to learn more.

  • Stress is temporary and tied to a specific situation. When the situation resolves, the stress lifts. If you are constantly wound up, having trouble sleeping, unable to stop overthinking, or feeling exhausted no matter how much rest you get, that is no longer just stress. That is your mind and body telling you that your current coping strategies are not enough. We wrote a full post on this topic: "Do I Need Therapy or Am I Just Stressed?"

  • Yes. This is one of the most common reasons our clients come to us. We use cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy to help you understand the patterns behind your overthinking and build practical strategies to quiet the noise. The goal is not to eliminate all thoughts. It is to change your relationship with them so they stop running the show.

  • When you use insurance, your insurance company has a say in your treatment: how many sessions you get, what diagnosis goes on your record, and what types of therapy are covered. With private pay, none of that applies. Your treatment is designed entirely around your needs and goals. Many of our clients use their out-of-network insurance benefits to receive reimbursement, so the effective cost is often lower than people expect.

  • After each session, we provide you with a superbill, which is a detailed receipt. You submit it to your insurance company (most allow online submission through their app or website), and they send you a reimbursement check or direct deposit. Most clients with PPO plans get back 50% to 80% of the session fee. We walk you through the entire process during your free consultation so you know exactly what to expect. Visit our blog post exploring why so many people choose an out-of-network therapist.

  • The cost of therapy varies depending on which therapist you are working with and the type of services being provided. Katie’s session fee is $230 for 45 minute sessions and $250 for 60 minute sessions. Edlira’s session fee is $190 for 45 minute sessions and $210 for 60 minute sessions.

You can request superbills to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Visit our blog post exploring why so many people choose an out-of-network therapist which helps explain the process related to out of network claims.

You join from wherever you feel most comfortable, whether that is your home, your car on a lunch break, or a private room at your office. Our clients consistently tell us that virtual sessions feel just as personal and effective as in-person therapy, with the added benefit of no commute and more flexible scheduling.

  • Your first session is about getting to know each other. We will talk about what brought you to therapy, what is going on in your life right now, and what you want to feel differently. Think of it as a conversation, not a test. By the end, you will have a sense of how we work together and whether it feels like the right fit. There is no pressure to commit after the first session.

  • It depends on your goals and what you are working through. Some clients see meaningful shifts in 8 to 12 sessions. Others benefit from longer-term work, especially if they are navigating ongoing life transitions or deeper patterns. Because we are a private pay practice, there are no insurance-imposed session limits. You stay in therapy as long as it is helpful, and we regularly check in on your progress together.
