Tips for Setting Goals and Actually Achieving them

Do you continue finding yourself crafting ambitious New Year’s resolutions only to see them fade away with time?🫠If the cycle of setting goals and not achieving them feels all too familiar, you’re not alone 🤝let’s work through this!

We can’t keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results🌀😵‍💫 Consider some of these tips to help increase your rate of success with your goals this year 🦋💥

  1. Start small, don’t make the list long if that may overwhelm you.

  2. Post your list of goals somewhere that you are going to see it on a daily/weekly basis to serve as a reminder.

  3. Include smaller, manageable milestones/goals that will lead you to achieve your bigger goals. This provides a sense of achievement along the way. Providing a clear plan and roadmap will lead to greater success rates.

  4. Check off the smaller goals as you complete them for positive reinforcement.

  5. Write your goals with the wording, “I will....” this encourages a positive mindset. You are not just stating your goal, you are visualizing a future where your goal is achieved.

  6. Be specific. What exactly do you want to achieve? Who is involved? How will you achieve this?

  7. Make your goals measurable. How will you track your progress? Include quantifiable terms. Instead of “Improve my time management” make it measurable by stating, “Reduce time spent on social media to a maximum of 30 minutes per day for the next month.

  8. Identify when you will start working on the goal as well as an end date.

  9. Communicate your goals with others. This is a manifestation technique as it involves speaking your intentions into existence and inviting support and positive energy from those around you.

  10. Regularly review and update your goals. Maybe one of the goals no longer aligns with your visions for your future.

  11. If you are feeling overwhelmed by your list of goals separating them into categories may be helpful such as professional goals, relationship goals, wellness goals, etc.

Remember, goal-setting is a personal choice. If the mere thought overwhelms you, that’s okay too. But, it might be an opportunity for self-reflection🤔💭Why does the idea of setting goals trigger stress? Not setting goals doesn’t necessarily indicate something is wrong, however unraveling this discomfort can be a powerful tool for personal growth🌱🌳
